FLOOR 2 CORRIDOR CCTV — CAMERA 2B (PREVIOUSLY UNREVIEWED)
Taj Lake Palace · East Corridor, Floor 2 · 21–22 March 2025 · Reviewed 27 March 2025
Vikram Tomar, Security Manager · Taj Lake Palace · Ref: TLP-CCTV-2025-0327-CAM2B SIT Request: Full secondary camera footage · Submitted 27 March 2025
Camera 2B — Background and Why It Was Missed
Camera 2B was installed in August 2024 as part of the hotel's Phase 2 security expansion. It covers the mid-section of the east corridor on Floor 2 — specifically the stretch from the east stairwell to approximately 4 metres east of Suite 214's door. It was not included in the initial SIT footage review (22 March 2025) because the security manager's initial submission listed only Cameras 1A (lobby), 1B (elevator hall), and 2A (corridor west section). Camera 2B was discovered during a second-pass system audit requested by the SIT on 25 March 2025. Footage was reviewed by SIT analysts on 27 March.

Analyst Identification Assessment
FeatureCamera 2B ObservationMatch — Deepa Singhania
Build and heightFemale, approx. 160–165 cm, medium buildConsistent — Deepa Singhania listed at 162 cm
ClothingDark-coloured saree, possible gold trim at borderConfirmed by reception hall photographs — Deepa wore navy blue saree with gold border throughout the evening
HairDark, pinned up — bun or juda style, visible ornamentConsistent — reception photos show Deepa with juda and gold matha patti
GaitDeliberate, unhurried, not running. Does not look toward camera.Assessment: subject was aware of Camera 1B at elevator but unaware of Camera 2B's existence
Object carried (exit)Small item possibly in right hand — dimensions consistent with a vial or small bottle. Low confidence — resolution insufficient for definitive identification.Assessment: may represent the thallium container being removed from the suite after use. Not confirmed.
WHY NO FACE CAPTURE: Camera 2B is mounted at corridor ceiling level (approximately 2.4m high) and angled downward toward the floor to capture foot traffic and door access. Facial identification from this angle is not possible. The identification rests on clothing match, physical description match, and the key card log confirming KC-214-B (Deepa Singhania's card) was used at the precise timestamps visible in the footage.
PHYSICAL CORROBORATION: The key card log (E10) records KC-214-B entering Suite 214 at 23:06 and exiting at 23:19. Camera 2B independently shows a female figure matching Deepa Singhania's clothing and build entering the corridor at 23:04, reaching Suite 214's door at 23:06, remaining absent from the corridor until 23:19, then departing. The two data sources — electronic log and visual footage — are independent and mutually corroborating.

NOTE ON POST-EXIT LOCATION (23:19–23:54): Camera 2B's coverage ends at the east stairwell entrance. The subject is seen moving toward the stairwell at 23:19:44. The south stairwell has no camera coverage. The subject reappears in the reception hall at 23:54 (Camera RC-02, E03). The 35-minute interval between stairwell exit and reception return is not covered by any camera. SIT assessment: the interval is consistent with the subject composing herself before returning to the wedding reception — no further evidential significance. It does not affect the established poisoning window (23:06–23:19).
