SCENE EXAMINATION AND PRELIMINARY FORENSIC REPORT
Central Forensic Science Laboratory, New Delhi · Physical Evidence Division
Prepared by: Sr. Examiner R.K. Pillai, CFSL New Delhi Scene: 14 Tughlak Lane, New Delhi — Study (First Floor) · Examination date: 15 April 2025, 02:15–07:40

Scene Parameters

Scene secured by Delhi Police Control Room at 23:52 on 14 April 2025. CFSL team arrived 02:15 on 15 April 2025. Scene integrity: partial compromise — residence staff had entered room between estimated time of death and police arrival. Body repositioned: unknown. Desktop surface: disturbed (see Observations, item 4).

Deceased

NameKapoor, Krishnamurthy Chandrashekhar ("KC Kapoor") Age58 years Position foundSupine on study floor, 0.8 m from desk chair (eastward). Right arm extended, left arm across chest. Apparent cause (preliminary)Single gunshot wound, right temporal region. Formal cause of death subject to post-mortem. Estimated time of deathBetween 21:30 and 23:00, 14 April 2025 (range from body temperature, ambient 26°C). PM report pending.

Firearm Evidence

Weapon recoveredGlock 17 Gen 5, serial DL-RG-4490, registered to deceased under Arms Act licence no. DL/2019/FA/1147. Found 0.74 m from right hand (eastward from body). Magazine status17 rounds capacity; 16 rounds remaining. One round discharged. Last documented inspection (Arms Licensing Branch, Jan 2025): full magazine, 17/17. Round count unchanged from documented baseline minus one fired round. GSR — weaponGunshot residue: NIL on barrel exterior, NIL on slide. Barrel interior consistent with one discharge. Bore shows no sign of suppressor thread engagement or suppressor-induced micro-scarring. GSR — deceasedDorsal surface, right hand: POSITIVE (lead, barium, antimony particles, 14 particles confirmed). Palm and web space: NEGATIVE. Trigger finger pulp: NEGATIVE.

Wound Analysis (Preliminary)

Entry siteRight temporal region, 3.8 cm anterior to anatomical self-infliction reference point (mastoid process). Wound margin: circular, 9 mm diameter. Powder dispersionStippling pattern radius: 41 mm from wound margin. Central tattooing: absent. Dispersion pattern is consistent with intermediate muzzle-to-skin range: estimated 85–120 cm. Contact and near-contact range (0–15 cm) would produce central soot deposit and stellate tearing — both absent. TrajectoryHorizontal left-to-right, slight inferior angle (approx. 8° downward). Exit wound: left parietal, 12 mm irregular margin. Projectile recoveredNo projectile recovered from body. Projectile recovered from east wall plaster at height 157 cm from floor. 9×19mm Parabellum, full metal jacket.

Cartridge Case

LocationFound 1.2 m east-northeast of body, on study floor. Calibre9×19mm Parabellum (9mm Luger) ManufacturerHeadstamp: WCC 2021 (Winchester Cartridge Co., USA) Case neckMicro-scoring on exterior of case neck at ejection point: consistent with engagement of a suppressor-threaded barrel. Glock 17 serial DL-RG-4490 has standard (non-threaded) barrel — barrel and case neck are physically incompatible for this type of scoring.

Scene Observations

1. No suicide note found in study or adjacent rooms.

2. Study door: unlocked. Window: closed, latched from inside.

3. Whisky glass (partial contents) on desktop — sent for toxicological analysis, AIIMS Lab. Two glasses present; second glass contained residue only (no liquid). Both glasses submitted.

4. Paper stack on desktop: stack displaced 12 cm from leather desk pad border marking (visible impressions in pad suggest regular placement). Ballpoint pen found on floor 0.6 m from desk — no pen found on desk surface. Desk lamp: on.

5. Concealed drawer (rear of bookcase shelf, activated by magnetic key): open and emptied. Drawer dimensions: 38 × 22 × 8 cm. Residual paper fibres and folder spine fragments indicate recent removal of physical files. Magnetic key not found at scene.
