CASE 06 — TRIAL ZERO | HOST EYES ONLY | Do not share with players

SOLUTION: Kavitha Nair (CEO & Co-founder) killed Dr. Anil Reddy by rigging Workstation LN-07 in Lab Block C to deliver a fatal 240V charge. She exploited her SENTRON Specialist Certification to bypass the safety interlock, used the unmonitored service corridor from Lab Block B to reach Lab Block C without triggering a badge event, and departed campus at 22:35 — 83 minutes after her badge last logged an access point.

Evidence Chain — How Players Should Connect the Dots

Chain 1: The Crime Required Specific Expertise

E01 (electrocution analysis) → forensic report states the SENTRON PAC3200 bypass required knowledge of Siemens SENTRON firmware architecture. Recommends police obtain a complete list of SENTRON-certified personnel at the facility. E10 (safety audit) → list of certified personnel at BioNexus: only Kavitha Nair and Ravi Teja hold valid (non-lapsed) SENTRON certifications. Anil's own cert had lapsed. → Narrows physical perpetrators to Kavitha or Ravi.

Chain 2: Ravi Has a Watertight Alibi

E08 (celebration register) → Ravi Teja continuously present from 18:42 to 22:58, confirmed by 12 witnesses, CCTV (4 angles), and group photos at 19:00, 21:00, and 22:00. E02 (access log) → Ravi's badge exits Lab Block B at 22:04 and campus at 22:06, consistent with the celebration ending. → Ravi eliminated. The only valid SENTRON-certified person with an open alibi is Kavitha Nair.

Chain 3: Kavitha's 83-Minute Gap

E02 (access log) → Kavitha's badge (BNL-0102) exits Lab Block B at 21:12. No further badge events recorded for her until police lockdown. Service corridor BNL-SERV/B2C connects Block B to Block C — no card reader. E06 (vehicle CCTV) → her Tesla (TG-09-EK-4412) remains in Bay B-14 until 22:31, exits campus at 22:35. E05 (CDR) → her phone makes no calls and registers no tower events from 21:03 to 23:04. → She was on campus for 83 minutes with no tracked movements — during which the murder was committed.

Chain 4: The Motive — ₹192 Crore and Criminal Exposure

E03 (QA memo) → Anil's memo documents the Batch 7B discrepancy: 61.3% real ORR vs. 74.2% filed. Two treatment-related deaths coded as disease progression. QA memo sent to Kavitha and Ravi on 1 May; no response by 3 May. E04 (DCGI submission) → the declaration of accuracy was co-signed by Kavitha and Sanjay. Anil's preliminary complaint on 3 May was dismissed by Sanjay acting on behalf of BioNexus. E07 (DRHP) → Kavitha's personal stake: ₹192 crore, contingent on NX-7 IPO. 78% of projected revenue from NX-7. A re-audit would have frozen everything. Chain 5: The Service Corridor and Physical Evidence

E02 → service corridor BNL-SERV/B2C noted as unmonitored (push-bar, no card reader). E01 → nitrile glove fibers (Size M, BioNexus lab-issue) found at workstation LN-07 drawer pull. Vault B → HFSL analysis of the corridor: matching fibers found 8 metres from Block B entrance; shoe impression near Block C entrance; fingerprint on push-bar (smeared, insufficient for ID). Combined with Kavitha's badge exit from Block B at 21:12, this places someone on the Block B→C route during the window.

Chain 6: Why Priyanka Is Not the Killer

E05 (CDR) → Anil's final text at 21:52 is to Priyanka ("Can we talk? Lab C. Now."). This makes players suspect her. E02 (access log) → but Priyanka only has Block A access (badge BNL-0394, Level 1, Block A only). She couldn't swipe into Block C. E09 (lab notebook) → Anil trusted Priyanka as a witness/ally — he was calling her to come help, not because he feared her. E10 (safety audit) → Priyanka is not SENTRON-certified. She could not have performed the bypass. E06 (CCTV) → her Wagon R exits campus at 22:20 — she went home without going to Lab C.

Red Herring Management

Common Player Mistakes

"Priyanka received the last text — she must be the killer." The text was a summons for help, not an incriminating message. The access log shows Priyanka couldn't enter Lab Block C. Players who make this mistake should be nudged toward E02's access level table and E10's SENTRON cert list.

"Ravi had motive and the technical skills." Both true. But the celebration alibi is airtight — 12 witnesses, 4 CCTV angles, 3 group photos. Players should find they can't punch through it. Kavitha's call to Ravi at 21:03 (unanswered) and her own unanswered call to Ravi at 22:18 (after she called from his side) suggest she tried to delegate and couldn't reach him.

"Harish called Sanjay during the murder — they're in it together." Harish left campus at 21:45 and was clearly off-campus when he called. The call content is unknown but plausibly a panicked investor check-in after news broke. Neither man had physical access or expertise.

Session Structure

Round 1 (Pack A open)

Players receive E01–E05 and the locked Vault A. The key early questions: Who had the expertise to bypass the SENTRON board? (E01 raises the question; E10 — Pack B — answers it.) Who was on campus during the murder window? (E02 begins to answer this.) What was Anil's QA memo about? (E03 lays out the data fraud.) Cross-referencing E03 and E04 reveals the discrepancy. Vault A code (2847) is the batch reference on E03.

Round 3 (Pack B open)

E10 is the turning point — it names the SENTRON-certified personnel and specifically identifies Kavitha's certification year (2019 = Vault B code). E06 confirms Kavitha's car didn't leave until 22:35 despite her badge exiting Block B at 21:12. E08 locks in Ravi's alibi completely. E09 recontextualises Priyanka from suspect to witness. Vault B (corridor evidence) seals the case: fibers in the service corridor match the crime scene.
